Ellsworth Vines, who is participating in the professional tennis tournament on November 19, says that he does not regret turning professional despite the Wimbledon ban. ‘‘l hope,” he said, “to retire in case at thirty. Tilden has made £20,000 in two years of professionalism. I am well on the way to making that in the first year.”
Stoffen Turns Professional JOINS BILL O’BRIEN’S TOURING TROUPE NEW YORK, Nov. 13. The American Davis Cup player Lester Stocfen turned professional on Tuesday, joining the sports promoter, Bill O’Brien’s, touring troupe. British Ranking POREMOST AMATEURS LONDON, Nov. 13. The Lawn Tennis Association’s British ranking is:—Perry, Austin, Hughes, Sharpe, flare, Avory, Peters, Wild®, juitchie, Freshwater, Gandar-Gower and Tuckey. It is announced that Collins and Lee are not ranked owing to insufficient data. The women players rank:—Miss Round, Miss Scriven, Miss Stammers, Mrs. King, Misses James, Lyle and Nuthall, Mrs. Whittingstail, Mrs. Pittman, Misses Dearman ’and Hardwick, and equal for twelfth place, Misses Noel and Ridley.
