Meat and Dairy Exports to Britain
NEW ZEALAND AND AUSTRALIA United Press Association.— By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Wednesday, 7 p.m. LONDON, Nov. 14. The Times, in a leader, says that,- if Hon. J. G. Coates during his forthcoming visit to, Australia manages to reach an agreement with the Commonwealth on common action in respect of future meat and dairy exports to Britain, .it will certainly strengthen their hand in the negotiations with Britain, but it will not be easy, because strong New Zealand opinion feels it is unfair that, While New Zealand is treating British goods more favourably than Australia does, both countries should receive the same treatment on the British market. Furthermore, the same New Zealand opinion holds that some of the Commonwealth’s marketing schemes are really subsidies, giving the Australian exporter an artificial advantage over the New Zealander, Anyway, the discussions should be a useful preparation for the more comprehensive and informal discussions between Britain and the Dominions during the King’s Jubilee.
