Prime Minister's Illness
ME. LYONS IN HOSPITAL United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. SYDNEY, Nov. 14. The Prime Minister, Mr. J. A. Lyons, who became suddenly ill at a Cabinet meeting at Canberra yesterday, arrived at Victoria Hospital shortly before midnight after a trying motor car journey from Canberra. He was examined by .Sir John Kilven, who subsequently announced that there would be no immediate operation. An N-ray is to be made this morning. It is understood Mr. Lyons is suffering from abdominal trouble. Mr. Lyons, who was accompanied by Mrs. Lyons, was delayed for two hours on the journey when the car broke down about 50 mles from Sydney. Terrific thunderstorms were experienced on the trip. Finally, after a long journey and being stranded at a small township, which was without telephonic communication, the driver had to walk two miles through heavy Tain to the nearest telephone for help.
No Necessity for Operation MAY RESUME DUTIES IN FEW DAYS Received Wednesday, 10 p.m. SYDNEY, Nov. 1-1. The Prime 'Minister’s condition today was improved and his medical adviser, Sir John McKelvev, expressed the opinion that there was no necessity for an operation, and that Air Lyons should be able to resume his duties within a few days.
