After a long spell of dry weather, rain lias fallen at last. Most of the farmers about here have been top-dressing and jiave been waiting for rain before they could proceed with their work. Notwithstanding the continued dry weather the paddocks arc looking well and all the stock seems to be in good condition. Mr. J. Crossland, who was injured in a motor accident at Papatavva railwaycrossing last Friday, is reported to be well on the way to recovery.

In view of her approaching marriage. Miss Hannah INI ills has been the guest at surprise parties ciuite recently. Bast Monday a party from tho Rechabite Dodge paid a surprise visit to her home, Pinfold road, and a very pleasant evening was spent by all present. During tho evening Mr. R. Rendle, on behalf of the members of the lodge, presented Miss Mills with a beautiful picture, and extended the best wishes of the members of the lodge for her future health and happiness. On Tuesday evening the members of Miss Mills’ Sunday school class journeyed to her home for the purpose of presenting her with a cut-glass jug and goblets to match. An invitation was extended to tho members of the Papatavva W.I. to an afternoon given by Mrs. Mills in honour of her daughter's coming marriage. Upwards of 30 members were present and a very pleasant afternoon was spent. Games and competitions were the order of the day and these took place on the lawn. During the afternoon items were rendered by Miss Martin and Mrs. Herrick. The many beautiful wedding presents were on view, as was the bcautitul trousseau.
