Work on an additional underground telephone cable between London, Liverpool and Glasgow, which was begun in June, is proceeding rapidly on the northern section of the route. Over 1000 men arc continually employed on the laying of the cable, which includes four pairs of screened wires for special transmissions, particularly music, do manding a wide range of frequencies. When completed, 200 additional underground telephone circuits will be opened.
