From Our Own Correspondent. The A team representing tho Rifle Club was successful in winning the' Jones’ shield at the M.M.R.A. competition held on Friday at Longburn. Those in the winning team, with the scores, were as follow:—H. Hill 100, J. Simpson 100, H. Ellery 99, N, Leet 96, P. Ellery 95; total, 490. The B team was as follows:—E. Simpson 99, F. Simpson 07, G. Wiggins 95, W. Robinson 95, C. Cockburn 91; total, 477. The weekly shoot was held on Monday night when there was quite a big crop of possibles, P. Ellery and J. Simpson heading the list with good double possibles. During tho evening targets tor the Whitcombe and Couldwell cup were shot. The individual scores were: —J. Simpson 70, 70—140; P. Ellery 70, 70— 140; E. Simpson 70, 69—139; H. Ellery 70, 69—139; W. Robinson 69, 69—138; F. Simpson 67, 70—137; H. Hill 69, 63—137; N. Leet 67, 69—136; S. Quinlan 70, 66—136; G. Wiggins 67, 67—134; C. Cockburn 67, G 6—133; J. Cockburn 64, 69—133; K. Green 64, 68—133. Mr. and Mrs. A. Pedersen entertained tho members of the Ohakea senior Rugby team at their residence on Monday evening. A pleasant evening was spent with song and billiards. Tho friends of Mr. J. Ellery will be pleased to learn that he has returned home after a few days in hospital and is much improved in health. On the occasion or her approaching marriage, the Ladies’ Hockey Club entertained Miss Harris at a gift evening on Tuesday. A large crowd was present and an enjoyable time was spent with dancing and cards. Music was supplied by Mrs. H. Redpath, Miss R. Toliu and Mr. McKinnon. After supper had been served Miss L, Bailey, on behalf of the members cf the team, presented JJiss Harris with

a crystal salad bowl, at tho same lime conveying their best wishes for her future happiness. Mr. F. O. Bailey endorsed Mlsa Bailey's remarks. A largo number of gifts were opened by the guest of the evening. Mr. J. Ellery was tho winner at cards and a Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss N, Capstick and Mr. A. Freckllngton.
