From Our Own Correspondent, The local Sports Club held a ping pong evening on Tuesday. Tho attendance was satisfactory and the committee has decided to hold weekly tournaments until further notice. Supper was served before the gathering dispersed. There tvas a very good attendance of farmers on AVednesday night to see a film exhibited by tho Pig Marketing Association and hear an address by Mr. Hastings, of the AVaikato, who explained everything very thoroughly as the film progressed, after which he addressed the gathering on tho urgent need of co-oper-ation to-day in the pig industry and the important part the wasto products on the farm can play in helping to balance every farmer's returns if fed to pigs under modern methods. Particular attention was drawn to the right type of pig, tho careful handling needed, draught-proof sheds, shade in hot weather, plenty of pure water and freo range under sanitary conditions, proper culling of the wrong typo of anlmais, etc. Mr. G. AVildo -was in the chair.
Miss Nielson, of Kimbolton, has returned to her home after spending a few days with Mr. and Mrs. C. Young, of Opui road. Mrs. 11. Wilson is visiting her father, Mr. Stewart, of Waiata. The friends of Mr. S. Hazenbee, of Asliloa road, will regret to learn that ho has been compelled to enter the Palmerston North hospital for treatment. Tho friends of Miss Mavis Henderson •will bo pleased to learn that she has returned home from hospital, but will also be sorry to hear that she has not improved greatly in health. Mrs. G. AVilde, president of the Opiki AV.I, has now returned home, her friends will be glad to know, and is progressing slowly towards recovery.
