From Our Own Correspondent. Queen Carnival Committee. The Apiti School Queen Carnival Committee met last 1 Monday night. Messrs 11. Wildbore (chairman), It. V. Stewart, li. Waterson, W. Hogan (secretary) and Mrs. H. L. Osborne were present. The coronation ceremony is to take place at the fancy dress dance on August 17. The supporters of each candidate have been most energetic in the canvass for votes to help swell the funds for the school committee. Oddfellows’ Card Evening. Card players attended in good numbers on Tuesday evening for the Oddfellows’ card tournament. Bridgo and euchre were played until supper time, after which dancing took place, the music being supplied by Mrs. T. Fowell. Winners at Bridge were Mrs. J. Kearney and Mr. J. McKenzie, while the euchre trophies went to Mrs. R. Hooper and Mr. I* l‘awson. Personal. Mr. Hugh Osborne, an old and respected resident of the Apiti district, has recently sold the farm on which he has lived for over 40 years. Mr. and Mrs. Osborne on their retirement from active farming will take with them the best wishes of the whole community. Card Evening. A delightful evening was held at the residence of Mrs. R. V. Stewart on Friday last, when supporters of the Dairy Queen (Miss Helen Warnock) gathered to play cards. There were 50 present and Mrs. J. Kearney and Mr. V. McKenzie won the bridgo tournament. Others played euchre and 500. Supper was served by the hostesses, Mesdames R. V. Stewart, II Morris, G. G. Morris and P. Warnock.
