MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE DISCUSSES CONTROL MATTERS.

Mr. M. A. Ongley presided over last evening’s meeting of the management committee of the Manawatu Cricket Association, when there were also present: Messrs. M. O’Keefe, N. Galliehan, G. Griggs, E. J. Werry, J. Gavcy, \Y. Norris, IV. H. Wilson, G. Siglcy and R. Brace (secretary). After some discussion it was resolved in regard to the laying down of practice wickets, that tlio matter bo held in abeyance. It was explained that clubs hud complained of the charge of £2 2s per season per club made by the City Council and it was suggested that a. man bo employed to carry out the preparation. This, it was considered, might reduce the cost. The secretary was instructed to arrange for the preparation of wickets at Milverton park, in regard to wickets on the outer oval at, the Gportsgrouud, it was mentioned that these had bene too close to the fence.

The Hastings Cricket Sub-Association extended a cordial invitation to send a representative team to Hastings at. Christmas or during the New Year holidays.—Held over owing to the number of fixtures to bo fulfilled.

Old Boys’ Cricket Club asked that. A. Fletcher, formerly of the High School, be registered as a senior member of its team. —Granted.

P.D.G. Club requested that G. Russell and W. Eyre bo registered. —Granted. Tho chairman reported that he had attended the conference of associations and detailed the business transacted. He stated that it seemed likely that there w-ould not be many challengers for the Hawke Cup, now held by Nelson.

It was resolved to invite Wairarapa to meet Manawatu representative senior and junior teams at Palmerston North in the Christmas holidays and Wanganui to play representative match at New Year either at Palmerston North or at homo. It was pointed out by the chairman that it was possible that Australia, would be played about March 24 and if so Feilding would have io be played. Tho latter game would be best as a full-day Saturday game some time in February, liorowhenua already having been played.

The Foxton Sub-Association is to be written to requesting it to select a suitable day for a Manawatu Wednesday team to travel there. A date for a match with Oroua Downs was held in abeyance, The junior B representatives are to meet the Feilding juniors at New Year.

If a. senior game cannot be arranged with Southern Hawke’s Bay for Anniversary Day an endeavour is to be made to arrange the match for Feoruary. The City Council is to bo requested to extend the gas supply to the kiosk at the Sportsground. An effort is to be made to obtain plans for an extra room to be added, with lockers, to the dressing-room at the ground, it being suggested that a working-bee might carry out the erection. Tho present facilities, it was felt, would hav* to be improved in view of the proposed visit of an Australian eleven.
