Polly Anna Club Presents Fine Programme
There was a very large and most appreciative audience at the annual coaeert of the Cuba Street Methodist Young Women's Club (the Polly Annas) on Friday evening. That much time and thought had been given in preparation for this popular event was evident by the excellence of the items. The burlesques and topical hits brought down the house and altogether the members have every reason to be satisfied with the success of their efforts. Miss Gwen Young in her Maori songs (in character) and Mrs. Bichards in her two songs elicited enthusiastic recalls, while the brief threeact playette, “Amelia," was commend ably performed. The audience was much pleased with the guitar items of Miss Lorna Perrin and Miss Whitehead, also tho elocutionary items by Miss Maud Lindsay and Miss P. Fraser. At the conclusion of the programme Miss Clare Boyce, on behalf of the club, presented Mrs. Bichards, their leader, with a charming bouquet of flowers, tho members joining in the singing “For She's a Jolly Good Fellow," w-hile Mr. A. T. Fisher, on behalf of the church officials, expressed the delight of all at tho splendid evening they had spent. The proceedings closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
