NOW IN ALL STATES BUT ONE. State lotteries have become an accepted form of investment in Australia as a means of assisting charitable objects, according to Mr Jolm Fuller, Of Sydney, who is on a visit to New Zealand. .Although 'tho Stevens Government was against lotteries when it was returned, it was now of the opinion that it would be unwise to abolish them, on the grounds that it would bo very difficult to raise the money for charities by other means such as straight-out taxation. The result to-day was that every State in Australia now ran lotteries with the exception of Victoria, and it was inevitable that Victoria must follow suit, if it was only to prevent the flood of money to those States where lotteries were held.
