BIRTHDAY AT PEILDING. Tho comirig-of-ago celebration of the Wanganui Women’s Presbyterian Association was held at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church Hall, Feilding, on Wednesday afternoon, when delegates representing the Presbyterian Women’s Mission Unions of Wanganui, Marton, Bulls, Terrace End, Pamcrston North and Feilding were present. Mrs. Me* Ivor (president) of Marton presided. Congratulatory letters were received from Mrs. Doull (the first president) and Ms. Budd, who now resides in Auckland. The birthday cake was made and presented by Airs. Gibson, of Kiwitea, and the 21 candles were lighted by past officers of the P.A. Tho visitors were welcomed by the Feilding P.W.M.U. president, Airs. Gosnell, and Airs. C. E. Taylor, tho Alayoress, welcomed the special guest, Miss Henderson, of Christchurch, returned missionary with 37 years’ experience in India. Bouquets were presented by petite Marie AlcDowall to Airs. Mclvor, Airs. Taylor and Aliss Henderson. A most instructive and interesting talk on mission work was given by Aliss Henderson. She docs not approve of Gandhi’s methods, but she said that his agitation is having the unexpected and not intended effect of India’s women shedding the veil, which for so long had forced them behind the bars of the zenana. Airs. Gibson sang a solo. The votes of thanks were moved by Airs. Brechin (to Aliss Henderson) and Airs. Collins (to tho . Feilding hostesses). The meeting concluded with the singing of the Doxology.
