TARANAKI BENEFITS BY CHANGE
Commenting on the tour of the Taranaki Rugby team through tho South Island, the manager, Mr J. McLeod, stated that the tour was most enjoyable and pleasant. It was made interesting for tho players by the hospitality and interesting trips arranged for them. Personally, lie had enjoyed the opportunity of meeting and renewing acquaintances with, old players and officials.
“As regards the actual games,” said Mr McLeod, “it was an interesting fact that the change of Taranaki s scrum formation from a J-o-2 to a. o-1.-I by the unanimous request of the forwards proved very successful. Because of the existing rule and the scrum formations of the teams met, it. was a distinct.-advantage to Taranaki, and with it wo secured a progressively large share of the ball until .in the match with Canterbury we absolutely dominated the hooking. Tho results achieved proved the wisdom of the change.
