Saturday's Professional Road Race
BAILEY WINS 'WELL TIMED SPRINT The Counties Cash Cycling Club held a race to Ashhurst and return a distance of 15 miles and a small field of five faced the starter. The limit man Rodgers started well but McBrearty the second man was slow to begin and was overhauled by Bailey at Whakarougo on the outward journey. Smith caught- Rodgers at Ashhurst and these two riders were in turn overhauled by Bailey on the return trip and in a "spirited finish Bailey beat McBrearty by a very small margin, with Smith a similar distance behind. Rogers and Collins tho others starters were close on the winner and place getters, The raco resulted as follows: C. Bailey 43min. 33scc 1
B. Mcßrearty 45min. 35 l-ssec. ... 2 W. Smith -45 min. 53 3-ssec 3
Bailey also made fastest time for the journey. Next Saturday the 100-mile Wanganui race will be held, and as several outside entries have been received this event should be a very successful one for tho club. This race is timed to commence from Terrace End at 9 o’clock.
