Mount Richards Road

From Our Own Correspondent. A number of tbe members of the Kin Ora Basketball Club journeyed to Poliangina on Friday afternoon of last week to enjoy with the Pohangina Club tho closing of the latter’s basketball season.

The Kia Ora Club closed its season by holding a friendly match against "The 'Boys,” resulting in a win for the latter team after a closely contested game, the scores being G—3. Tlio teams were as follow:—Boys’ team: Forwards, V. Port, R. Port, L. Port; centres, 1,. Duffy, L. Pawson, Y. McEwen; defence, .1. Stevens, F. Roberts, A. Coup. Ladies’ team: Forwards, Misses A. Port, It. Duffy, A. Batchelar; centres, Misses A. Roberts, G. Port, N. Coup; defence, Misses 1. Roberts, E. Duffy, B. Wingate. Miss E. Roberts acted as referee. Miss X. Coup, captain, suitably thanked Mr. o. Port for the use of his field throughout, the season, and Mr. E. AATngate for lending an empty house for the serving of afternoon tea on several occasions.

Ping Pong

On Saturday night a handicap tournament was held as a conclusion to the ping pong season at Mount Richards Road. Miss Anne Roberts was the winner with Mr. F. Roberts second. Miss Rita Duffy was the winner of the consolation prise. Prizes were kindly donated by the secretary and captain. Mr. A. Roberts thanked both donors for their gifts and their services during the season. A dainty, supper was served by the ladies. General. The grader is working on roads in the Utuwai district. Corners are being cut away and the road generally improved. The Education Board carpenters visited the Utuwai school last week and effected several repairs. Docking operations are now in full swing in this district. Mr. J. Whitehead, of Atvaliou, has been tlio guest of Mr. and Mrs. G. Port. Miss Della McEwen, of Utuwai, is at present on holiday in Feilding. Mr. W. R. Kibblowhite, of To Ore Ore, Waipukurau,_ has been the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Wingate, "Cairnsniore,' Mount Richards Road.
