Queen Carnival

FRIENDLY SOCIETIES WILL SUPPORT PLUNKET QUEEN

There will bo no separate Friendly Societies’ nominee for the Queen Carnival, accoring to a decision arrived at by a representative meeting on Thursday night. The Societies’ Council, over which Mr A. H. Lowndes presided, was of the opinion that rather than nominate a separato queen and. conduct their own campaign, it would be preferable for the various societies represented to support the Plunket and Nursing Societies’ Queen. It wan thought that by taking such action the societies would be able to work better for the furtherance of the drive for funds for tho Central Relief Committee, for which the carnival is being promoted.
