From Our Own Correspondent. School Football. On Thursday last the final game of football for the Ralph Brown Cup was played between Clydesdale and Ohakea on the latter's ground. A hard fought and keenly contested game was won b.< Ohakea by 21 points to 12. At the conclusion of the game the visitors were hospitably entertained at afternoon tea and prior to adjourning, Mr. G. R. McKenzie proposed a vote of thanks on behalf of the visiting team. He congratulated the winners and called for cheers for them coupled with the name of Mr. Ralph Brown who was instrumental in having the competition inaugurated by presenting such a handsome trophy. Mr. N. Beet suitably responded. Mr. Brown also replied and congratulated the winners on having their name first inscribed on the cup and mentioned that the cup was made round to go round. School Hockey.

On the same day as the Football match the Clydesdale school girls’ hockey team journeyed to Ohakea to play the latter team. This proved a fast and spectacular game which was played in a very friendly spirit and the result was a win to Clydesdale by one goal to nil, the winning goal being shot by Kathleen Maxwell. During the game Joyce Pedersen oi the Ohakea team received a nasty h. above the eye from a stick and medical aid had to be secured and three stitches inserted in the wound. Mr. G. R. McKenzie controlled the game. The Clydesdale school are deeply indebted to Miss Flavell and Messrs P. R. Teague, F. M Duxford, E. R. Gennills, J. Powell am S. Quinlan for conveying the teams to their destination. Hookey On Saturday the final games in tli sealed handicap contest run under the auspices of the Feilding Hockey Association were played on the local ground between Carnarvon ladies and Ohakea, and Carnarvon men and Colyton. The ladies’ game was not up to the usua standard of the games played here and Carnarvon won by 5 goals to nil. For the winners Ethna Hill (4) and Rita Dixon scored. Mrs. IC Bailey and Mr. G. R. McKenzie carried the whistles. By winning this game Carnarvon ladies proved the winners of the sealed handicap cup and are to he congratulated upon their dual success this season in winning the Association championship and the above contest.

The men’s game proved a much better exhibition of the code and at times some sparkling play eventuated. Carnarvon were unlucky in not being able to field their strongest team but nevercneiess colyton played a good, clean sporting game and their better co-operation and harder hitting eventually enabled them to run out winners by 5 goals to nil. For the winners M. Worsfold (4) and S. Hocken scored. Messrs Garlick and McKenzie controlled the game. Colyton, by winning this game, proved the winners of the sealed handicap cup and likewise are to be congratulated upon their dual success as this team also won the Association championship. At the conclusion of the games the visitors were hospitably entertained at afternoon tea. Clydesdale School. At a recent meeting of the committee it was decided to hold a euchre party and dance on August 31 In aid of school funds. The school has now closed for the spring vacation and resumes on Monday, September 4. Miss Flavell, the head teacher, has left per motor to spend the holidays In Auckland.
