Ranfurly Shield Tripper Falls From Train
FOUND HOURS LATER IN SERIOUS CONDITION Per Press Association. TIMARU, Last Night. John Montague, of Invercargill, was found unconscious lying beside the line near Seadown, seven miles north of Timaru, by the driver of this morning’s special train returning from Christchurch to Invercargill after the Ranfurly Shield game and which passed hero at 2 a.m. The injured man was taken on to Temuka and transferred by ambulance to the Timaru hospital, where ho lies in a serious condition, suffering from shock, collapse and a dislocated shoulder. Owing to Montague’s condition it is impossible to ascertain how the accident happened, but- he must havo fallen unnoticed from the train and lain beside the track all night through 11 degrees of frost.
