Mt. Richards Road
CLIMBING
From Our Own Correspondent. Over the week-end a party of six young men from Awahou and Mount S Richards road made a successful attack on Mount Maharahara. They made the ascent in very good time, two and a half hours travelling taking them to the top. The last part of the journey was very rugged, and made hard travelling, the party having to crawl on hands and knees for tho last half-mile through the dense and sturdy mountain scrub commonly known as “mountain cedar.” On the top a bottle was found In a prominent position containing the records of previous climbers of “Maharahara,” and the following were ablo to add their names to the list: J. Stevens, J. Wingate, L. Port, N. Forlong, C. Forlong and B. Caldwell.
