The annual meeting of tho Woodville Football Club was held on Friday evening, the president, Mr. F. Mackie, presiding over an attendance of between forty and fifty members and supporters. The annual report recorded that the past, season was the most suc-

eessful experienced by the club for a number of years. Two teams, a junior and a fourth grade, were entered for the Manawatu Rugby Union’s competitions and both were successful, in their respective grades. In winning the junior championship, the team played 14 matches, 12 being won, 1 drawn and 1 lost and scoring 220 points, while only 50 points were registered against them. In addition to tho junior championship), tho team also won tho Rowlands Cup for the champion junior team in tho Manawatu and Horowhenua districts. The fourth grade team also performed meritoriously and in winning their grade championship played 15 matches for 14 wins and 1 draw', scoring 139 points against their opponents’ 28. Both teams are to be congratulated on their success and for the manner in which they played the game both on and off tho field. The team coaches, Messrs. Chote and Ryburn for the juniors and Mr. H. A. Giles for the fourths wore also to be congratulated for tho manner in which they coached their respective teams, their work no doubt materially assisting the teams in their matches. It was to bo regretted that since the end of the season Messrs. Chote and Ryburn had been transferred from Woodville and by reason of their departure the club loses two valuable supporters. Tho finances of the club still show a credit balance,. but this had diminished considerably since the. beginning of the past season owing chiefly to tho heavy travelling expenses incurred by tho teams. A street stall and various competitions were held to raise funds and to those ladies and supporters of tho game who so generously assisted, the club is deeply indebted. The election of ofileers for the coming soason resulted as follows: Patron, Dr. P. H. Mules (re-elected); president, Mr. Mr. M. Murray; vicepresidents, Messrs. R. Bly, F. D. Mackie, F, Davis, J. Brandon, B. G. Smith and W. Isherwood; secrotary, B. Gillespie; auditor, FT. E. Bobertson; caretaker, A. Harris; delegates to the union, Messrs. F. D. Mackie and M. Murray; club captain, H. McNeil; management committee, Messrs. J. Oliver, T. J. Byan, B. Jones, H. A. Giles, A. Harris and E. Beale. The nomination of teams for this year’s competitions was left in the hands oi the management committee. Votes of thanks wero accorded Dr. P. H. Mules, tho retiring president, the team coaches and the Press. Tug-o’-War.

Great interest is being taken in the tug-o'-war which is «iping run under the auspices of the Woodville A. and P. Association on Wednesday next. Two events, an open and a local, are being staged, 11 entries having been received for the open event and nine for the local.
