Produce in the South
MARKETS QUIET Per Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. Oats and ryegrass continuo to come forward in increasing quantities, but with the usual outlets showing no interests, merchants are doing little business. Priecs ano tempting enough for speculation but the disposal side is more uncertain than if has been for years. Algerian oats aro quoted at 1/3 to 1/5 on trucks and Gar tons at 1/4 to 1/6. There is a considerable amount of ryegrass on the market. Quotations are a shade easier than previously quoted, 1/3 to 1/5 for Italian. An early sample or two may be expected within a week or ten days. A little business has been dono in spread fowl wheat at 3/4 f.o.b. (s.e.) Thero has never been in local trade a quieter January for forward potatoes than at present. The North Island is showing no interest and possibly will not until the Pukckoho crop is nearer being cleared. Priecs to farmers on trucks at Canterbury stations range from £2 to £2 5/- per ton.
