“Smithy” at Auckland
WELCOMED BY 5000 SPECTATORS. Per Press Association
AUCKLAND, Last Night,
The Southern Cross with Sir Charles Kingsford Smith landed at Mangere Aerodrome late this afternoon and were accorded an enthusiastic welcomo by about 5000 people. On leaving the machine Sir Charles was welcomed by the president of the Auckland Aero Club, president of the Auckland Returned Soldiers' Association apd president of the Officers’ Club. Sir Charles was accompanied by a party of II including his crew and a number of passengers who are travelling throughout the North Island in the machine.
