“BUT THE FLESH IS WEAK”

Have you seen .Robert Montgomery’s “Lovers Courageous’’ and “Private Lives’’? Well, let us tell you that the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer success, “But the Flesh is Weak,” which opens at tko Tivoli theatre to-night, is even better than either of them. In his new role he blends the humour and irresistible charm of “Private Lives’’ and the tender romance of “Lovers Courageous,’’ making “But the Flesh is Weak’’ quite one of the most enjoyable pictures for many weeks. Aud not the least important fact that makes the picture so entertaining is the cast which has been assembled. Two newcomers are introduced in the persons of Nora Gregor and Heather Thatcher. In addition there is C. Aubrey Smith in another line characterisation as the father of Montgomery. Nils Asther has an important role, as also has that inimitable comedian, Edward Everett Horton. Giving his usual kumouous portrayal, Frederick Kerr contributes many laughs to the picture. The story, based on the Ivor Novello play, “The Truth Game,’’ concerns Max Clement and his father, who, though living like lords, exist on the meagre results of modest gambling, and it is their one wish to meet and marry a wealthy woman and thus save them from hard work. There is to be a matinee tomorrow at 2.30 p.m.
