Feilding Show
The president of the Feilding 1., A. and P. Association desires to express the hope that all citizens will give their support and patronage to the show next week. The association has a long and honourable record, dating back to tho early years of this century when some of our far-sighted citizens recognised the potentialities of the district and promoted the first industrial exhibition out of which arose the present association now preparing for its 29th annual show.
Bad times show even better than good times the interests of town and country arc interdependent. Whatever happens we must “carry on,’’ maintaining production and improving quality. As regards quality the various produce and live stock shows have for over a century rendered conspicuous service in providing an arena both for competition and for demonstration. Among autumn shows our own is second to none. One notes with satisfaction that our breeders, undismayed by the low prices they arc receiving for their produce, are strongly supporting the show to such an extent that tho entries in the livestock sections this yeai aro ahead of the record established last year. The catering this year is again in the hands of the ladies, organised through the Women’s institute, the Women’s Division of tho Farmers’ Union and the Piunket Society. Last year when the new arrangements were first tried, it was regarded as something in the nature of ail experiment. The innovation 1 was so successful from every point of view that the association was very glad when the ladies agreed to undertake the work again this year. It is a fine movcmcit for “getting together," besides being the means of adding something to the revenue of these deserving organisations. A feature last year was tho night show which attracted a splendid crowd. Very special attractions are being provided again this year and the president invites the co-operation of town and country residents to make the 1933 show bigger and better than ever.
