Mortgagees Decide to Protect Their Interests
RESOLUTIONS TO GOVERNMENT.
Per PrCss Association CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. The Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Mortgagees Protection Association was formed to-day, a constitution adopted and officers elected. It was agreed to telegraph tho Prime Minister emphatically protesting against further cuts in mortgagees’ interest or contraction of mortgagees’ rights. Other motions carried were that mortgagees be represented on the Mortgagors Adjustment Commissions ; that it is comipon ground that the drastic legislation of tho last few months is Having a serious effect on the financial recovery of the country ; that investors are not only finding that their rights in respect of oxisting contracts have been ruthlessly cut but are afraid to enter into new ones for fear that similar or even more drastic legislation may be passed in future. The result is that tho flow of money for securities has definitely stopped.
