Railway Officers Want Increased Pay
TO MEET HIGHER EXCHANGE
At a meeting of tho local committee of the Railway Officers’ Institute held last evening, it was decided to request the executive in Wellington to make overy endeavour to obtain an immediate increase in all salaries of 15 per cent, with a view to offsetting the hardship imposed as a result of tho increased exchange rate. Members of the institute are at present experiencing great difficulty in meeting their financial obligations and it is felt that tho further lessening of purchasing power will render their position a most hopeless one.
