Obituary

ALEXANDER HOWIE WILSON, J.P,

Tho death took place at Marotiri on Monday, after a lingering of Alexander Howie Wilson, a well-known district farmer, at tho age of 63 years. Tho late Mr. Wilson was born in Aberdeenshire and arrived in New Zealand in 18S7. Ho settled in Bangitikci where ho followed his occupation as a carpenter. Ho subsequently entered business as a general storekeeper in Huutervillo. In 1896 he married Miss Agues Crawford, of Mt. Curl, Hunterville. He took a keen interest in public affairs and was a member of the Huntcrvillo Town Board and school committee and a keon supporter of the old Liberal Party. Ho was also a foundation member of the Huntcrville Masonic Lodge. In 1914 he removed to Marotiri, where he purchased the farm where he had since resided. He was a Keen sportsman and a member of tho local Racing Club. Tho late Mr. Wilson was held in high esteem by his fellow settlers as a man of strict integrity. Ho leaves a widow and three sons (Stuart, Ainslie and Glennie) and one daughter (Marjory). One daughter (Mrs. H. Mead) predeceased him about five years ago. There are three grandchildren. Messrs. John (Auckland), William, James and George (Hunterville) aro brothers and Mrs. W. G. Asnworth (Palmerston North) and Mrs. Abel (Auckland) aro sisters of deceased. The sympathy of a largo circle of friends and settlers will be extended to tho bereaved family. Tho funeral will take placo to-day (Wednesday), leaving his late residence for the Foxton cemetery at 1.30 p.m.
