The guest of tho Palmerston North Citizens' Lunch Club yesterday was Mr. A. G. Bcere, of Kongotea. A Sydney cable records tho death of Signor Antonio Folli, aged 47, manager and interpreter for. tho grand opera company which rccontly roturned from New Zealand. Mr. Brendan P. Mansfield, lately of Dunedin and Napier, was appointed superintendent of reserves at last night’s meeting of tho Invercargill City Council. There were forty-five applicants. At yesterday’s meeting of the Palmerston Nortli Citizens’ Lunch Club, the chairman, Colonel C. G. Powles, took tho opportunity of presenting Mr. It. H. Spencer with his certificate of life membership. Mr. Leo du Chateau, representing the Damo Sybil Thorndike Company, arrived from Wellington yesterday to mako arrangements for one production of “Saint Joan’’ to bo given in the Opera House on Thursday, February 2. Mr. C. E. Bridge, relieving manager of tho A.M.P. Society, has taken charge of the Palmerston North branch of tho society during the absonco on six weeks’ leave of absence of Mr. Godfroy Halse, tho local manager. Mr. C. W. Cederman, of tho postal branch of tho Chief Post Office at Palmerston North, has been transferred to Otorohanga, and will leave to-morrow Mr. J. 0. Evans, of Wellington, took up a position in tho Palmerston North Post Office last week.
