Theft of Mail Bag

On Monday afternoon Mr. L. M. Richards, of Wanganui road, Bulls, reported to the Post Office at Bulls that his mail bag had been stolen.

Constable Larmer immediately instituted inquiries and learned that two youths had been seen cycling towards Wanganui. Ho ’phoned Constable Thompson at Marton and within 25 minutes the boys were detained near Turakina. When questioned by the constablo the cider of the two, who gave his name as Herbert Andrews, admitted stealing the bag, cutting it open and throwing it into a nearby gorsc bush.

It later transpired that the bicycles tho boys were riding had been stolen from Palmerston North.

Andrews, who is 15 years of age, had previously been an inmate of tho Weraroa farm. Ho had since been licensed out on a farm, and in company with the other youth, whom he said was his brother, had run away.

The pair were taken to Palmerston North.
