Records Broken in Inter-provincial Athletics
Per Press Association WELLINGTON, Last Night. Canterbury won the inter-provincial athletic contest on the Basin Reserve on Saturday, defeating Wellington by winning ton of the thirteen events. C. H. Jenkins, tho Wellington sprinter, won the test 100 yards in ten seconds dead against a northerly. A. A. Cameron (Canterbury) won tho high jump clearing six feet and defeating the champion Crowe. In a subsequent exhibition ho cleared 6 feet and a quarter inch, breaking the New Zealand record. In the long jump, Cameron defeated Crowo with a leap of 22 feet 4 inches. Broadway (Canterbury) won the hair mile in 1 minute 58 seconds, Ogg (Wellington) being second. Ogg in the quarter mile beat D. F. Anderson (Canterbury) by a narrow margin. C. H. Matthews, who holds the Empire schoolboys record for the distance, just beat C. Gibbons (Wellington) in the mile. J. B. MacFarlane (Canterbury) beat Jenkins in tho 200 yards. Grant, of Gisborne, won tho 100 yards handicap from seven yards.
