Kimbolton Domain

QUESTION OF PUBLIC RIGHTS At yesterday's meeting of the Kiwitea County Council a letter was received from tho Commissioner of Crown Lands regarding a portion of tho Kimbolton Domain, which, although gazetted as a municipal reserve, the Domain Board had erected tennis aud croquet courts thereon aud a dispute had arisen as to whether the outside public should be permitted the use of these courts as well as members of tho clubs. The Commissioner of Crown Lands felt that the only method of satisfactorily dealing with the position would be to uplift the existing reservation and bring it into and to form portion of the Kimbolton Domain. The Domain Board would be given clearly to understand that in tho event of tire formation of a town district in Kimbolton at any future date the department would remove the section from the domain if necessary and reconvert it into a municipal reserve, It was explained that the letter %vas tho outcome of a desire to have tiie position mado clear, tho fact that the area on which the tennis and croquet courts were located, having been gazetted a municipal reserve, causing the Domain Board difficulty in administering its charge. Cr. IV. Hair reported that the letter appeared to suggest a satisfactory solution and he agreed that the Commissioner of Crown Lands’ proposals should bo supported. This the council agreed to do.
