Too Much Spoon-feeding
UNEMPLOYED SINGLE MEN'S CAMPS
“The less we hear about that lot the better, for it makes mo shudder to think we have to spoon feed New Zealanders like that,” remarked a councillor at yesterday’s meeting of the Kiwitea County Council, when ike county clerk was reading from a Public Works Department circular which set out the daily menu provided at single men’s camps.
The remark caused some amusement, which was followed by tho statement that nothing approaching the quality of the menu quoted was received at Trentham in the war period. On concluding, the councillor responsible for the above quotation remarked: “Thank goodness they did not have the pioneering of New Zealand.”
