Mystery, romance, intrigue and jealousy are reported as the elements in “Man About Town,’’ the Fox picture at the Tivoli theatre to-day. It brings Warner Baxter to the screen in tho role of a man who is ready to die to save the woman he took away from his best friend. “Man About Town’’ is a story of conflicting emotions, played against a background of Washington society and all the glamor of life in the national dapital. Two close friends discover themselves in love with the same woman. She makes her choice and the rejected one sets out to destroy the happy pair. But circumstances bring the friends together again, both fighting to save the woman from arrest on a charge of murdering an international spy. Some of the interesting backgrounds seen are a fashionable gambling house in full swing, colourful embassy balls and the offices of the Department of Justice in action. Karen Moriey, who will be pleasantly remembered for her performance in “Arsene Lupin,’’ the Barrymore Bros, picture, portrays the leading feminine rflle in “Man About Town.” The supporting cast includes Conway Tcarle, Alan Mowbray, Leni Stengel, Lilian Bond, Lawrence Grant and jlalliwell Htfbbes. Denison Clift, author of “Scotland Yard,” wrote the story, and Leon Gordon prepared it for the screen. The picture was directed by John Francis Dillon.
