Opium Smokers
TWO CHINAMEN FINED Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, Last Night. Among the complete paraphernalia for opium smoking produced in the Police Court were two ingeniously constructed fruit tins bearing the label “Egg Fruit.’’ Both tins had false bottoms, in which the police suggested opium was brought into New Zealand. As the result of a raid on Saturday Ah Poy and Young Sew were charged with smoking prepared opium. Sew was also charged with being the occupier of premises on which he permitted smoking. Poy was fined £2O and Sew £SO for permitting smoking, in addition to £l2 10/ foi smoking.
