Hungry Peasants
RAID IN YUGOSLAVIA. VIOLENT METHODS USED. BELGRADE, May 11. More than 2000 hungry peasants raided Brijedor, demanding food and seed. Because they considered the relief officers were not speedy enough in supplying their wants, they stormed the wheat stores and removed 30 tons ot grain. The peasants killed an employee who resisted them. They were repulsed by the local police, who charged them with iixed bayonets. The mob plundered the bakers’ shops, but escaped before police reinforcements arrived. A general outbreak of plundering is feared throughout Bosnia, where the peasants arc suffering intensely from a shortage of food.
