Milson
From Our Own Correspondent. A very successful social and dance was held in the Milson hall on Friday night, the function being a send-off to Mr. and Mrs. Nicholson who are leaving the district to take up their residence in Woodville. Mr. Griggs acted in the capacity of M.C. Old-time and modern dancing was intermingled. The dance music was supplied by Mrs. Murphy (piano), Mr. Coulston (saxophone) and Mr. Gandertou (banjo). Extras were played by Mrs. Barclay. Mr. Eabbits and Mr. Ganderton. Humorous songs and recitations were rendered by Mr. Walter Young, who was heartily applauded. Mr. Shepherd, who was also applauded, was heard to advantage in several comic songs. Mr. Bartlott, in a humorous recitation. “Tho Curate,” was heartily encored and responded with “Tho Tango Tea.” A dainty supper was! handed rounded by the committee comprising members of tho Tennis Club and Milson 'Progressive Association. Mr. FrecV Bartlett, speaking on behalf of the Progressive Association, apologised for the unavoidable absence of the chairman, Mr. J. Donaldfeon. who
was on. duty. He expressed regret that Mr. and Mrs. Nicholson were leaving the district, where their services were always freely given for the good and welfare of the district, and he wished them both long life anil happiness. Mr. Brown, on behalf of the Tennis Club, spoke in glowing terms of the work Mr. and Mrs. Nicholson had done for the good of the club. Mr. Brown also apologised for the absence of the chairman of the Tennis Club, Mr. Gilbert, wbo was also on duty. Mr. Nicholson lias been a resident of Milson for the past two and a-half years and has been a keen member of the Progressive Association, serving one term as chairman. He has also been, keen on tennis, being club captain last year and a prominent player throughout the life of the Tennis Club here. Mrs. Nicholson has also been a keen exponent,of the game and was one of the leading lights of the club, helping generally any function that has been held here. The residents of Milson wish both Mr. and Mrs. Nicholson every success in life. PEESONAL. Mrs. Mair, of Wellington, and Mrs. Sutherland, of Ngaio, who have been spending a holiday with Mrs. Donaldson, have returned home. Mrs. Haining, of Wanganui, was a week-end visitor to Milson.' Mrs. Dewhurst is spending the weekend with her parents at Mastorton. Mrs. Laloy and her daughter arc at present visiting the South Island. Mr. and Mrs. McGavin, of Auckland, are spending the week-end with Mrs. Eusscll, of Montreal street. Mr. McGavin. is a member of the crew of the Maui Pomare.
