Friesian Cattle
ANNUAL REPORT OF BREEDERS’ ASSOCIATION. The annual report of the New Zealand Friesian Cattle Breeders’ Association, after recording championships won during the year, records that there are now seven honorary members, two life members, 610 members, 34 junior members and 127 associated members, a total of 7SO members belonging to the association. During the year 1931, 104 C.O.E, (95 yearly and nine 305-day test), were gained by Fricsians under C.O.E. test. The yearly certificates averaged 15,565.31 b. milk and 559,0ib, fat. The certificates of record (yearly test) gained by Friesians now total 1934, with an average production of 13,7471 b. milk and 455.061 b. fat. This compares more than favourably with the records of any other dairy breed in the Dominion. - Messrs E. C. Banks, T. R. Eades, J. I. Boyds and E. A. Wilson retire from the council this year. During the year, 44 gold medals were given by the association, four to the hiorth aiid South Island champions, 33 to winners of most points and Agricultural and Pastoral Association shows, and seven to class leaders in production 1931. The council regrets to report the death of Mr. J. H. Wilson, for many years a prominent member of the association.
