Otaki kicked of and promptly attacked and by hard work kept Shannon hemmed in their own half for the greater part of the game. A penalty to greens on the line saw Meta Johnson hit the post, the ball bouncing back into play. Greens followed up well and from a scrum Parata dived through, Meta’s kick going wide. Otaki 3, Shannon nil. From the kick-off the ball went to Ropata who throw across tho field, Meta coming up and going to the line. Young cleared to mid-field, whero Mahina intercepted and passed to Merwood who sent Nankerville over, Meta again straying. Otaki 6, Shannon nil. Reds now attacked and Roddick had a long shot from a penalty from which greens returned, Ogeia putting in some good work. Shannon failed to

stop the rush in from a ruck cn the line; and F. Pafeita scored between the posts, Johnson goaling. Otaki 11, Shannon nil. The second half was a repetition of tho first half, but with better play on both sides. Reds went to the iine, but Merwood broke back until stopped by Geo and Saxon. However, from a scrum Parata again dived across, Nankcrvillo’s kick going over the post. Otaki 14, Shannon nil. Reds now compelled greens to force for the first time,, but Ropata, Enokti and Ogcia ran away, the latter scoring between the posts and Meta goaling. Otaki 19, Shannon nil. Two penalties to Shannon saw Roddick goal with a long kick but W. Parata. Huff and Meta' promptly added another five points, Meta executing one of his famous runs and scoring between tho posts.
