Willard Home Anniversary Appeal

To the Editor. Sir, —On Wednesday, May 25, at 2.30 p.m., tho "Anniversary Day" party will be held at the Willard Home, 80 Russell street. The last year has been a difficult and strenuous one, yet withal the work has been well maintained, and the children entrusted to our ebargo have had every care and attention. This achievement has been made possible through the generosity and practical nelp wo have received from your readers and the public-spirited friends and citizens of Palmerston North and other places. The Board of Management takes this opportunity of saying "Thank you” to all who liavo so generously helped. Tho home accommodates 29 children; we collect maintenance where we can, but several of these children are entirely dependent on tho board. Tho children aro being carefully trained and fitted to take their places as worthy citizens. Four of the boys are now helping themselves; two are on farms, doing well, and two are getting a commercial training. One of tho girls has boon placed in a good home; another matriculated last year and is hoping to tako up teaching later on. We are confident that a work that is showing such lino results will appeal to all who are interested in tho welfare of little children. We therefore appeal for your sympathetic help and cooperation in tho coming year. Willard Home is a home in the truest sense. The following is a Jist of tome of our requirements: Groceries of, all kinds, potatoes, scrubbing brushes, boot, brushes, yard broom, large clothes basket, clothes pegs, pyjama cloth, bath towels, single sheets, pillow slips, dinner plates, pudding plates, large snopping basket.—We are, etc., A. li.
