SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The anniversary services, tea and concert in connection with tho Bunnytliorpe Methodist Sunday School took place on Sunday and Friday, April IU and 15. A wet day on Sunuay reduced tho numbers in the congregations. Tho children, under tho leadership of Mr. Win. Egglcton, sang well, keeping well to the time set by nim and Miss Mavis Wood who presided at the piano. Mr. Roy and Miss Edna Jepsoii assisted in tho musical part of tho servico with tho ’cello and violiii respectively. For tho occasion tho pastor, Rev. R. E. l'urdycc, was tho preacher at both services. At tho morning service the preacher based his remarks on “ A V iuiin,” bringing forth various lessons and using as his test tho words of I. Cor. 6:20, "Glorify God." For tho evening sermon a diagram of a lighthouse was used, and an address was given on the words of Ps. 119 :105, "Thy word'is a light unto my path." A well attended tea and concert took place on Friday, April 15. After tea, tho children had tho pleasure of "plucking me goose," the goose for the occasion being the minister, who caused amusement by running round the church paddock wearing an old overcoat to which had been sown about 50 bags of lollies. He was soon well and thoroughly plucked, not a "feather" being left. The church was filled for tho concert, at which a couple of happy hours quickly passed. Mr. C. Woodley was the speaker for tho occasion and his address on "Small Beginnings" should bo remembered by many who heard it. Mr. Woodley is retiring from his more active work as local preacher after 55 years of faithful service, and in view of that fact Rev. R, E. Fordyce thanked him for the help he had been in tho services in the Ashhurst-Bunnytnorpe circuit. Mr. J. H. Fowler (Sunday school superintendent) presented me report and balance sheet, regretting tho fact that the state of the funds did not permit of tho presentation of prizes this year. Hope was expressed that prizes will bo awarded at tho next anniversary. Air. J. W. Clcvely, a trustee of the church, thanked the chairmaster, choir, pianist, teachers, ladies of the guild, and the performers for their assistance in tho success tho services, tea and concert. The chairman was also thanked for presiding and for his interest, in tho welfare of tho young people. Mr. W. N. Brewer (circuit steward) was unavoidably absent. Several young men from the Bible class gave much assistance with the carrying of tables, forms and the piano.
