Symphony of Autumn Tints
GLORY OF FLOWERS AT AWAPUNI On the beautiful canvas that is Awa(funi, nature painted a picture of incomparable charm at tho autumn meeting yesterday. Viewed from the mam stand, the scene was one of striking beauty. Fleeting shafts of sunshine bursting through tho clouds maae a play of light and shade that throw into strong relief tho vivid green of tho sward and tho gorgeous colouring of tho flowers. At one stage tho perfect arches of a double rainbow made a rare sight, tho foot splashing tho course with dull gold and casting an ethereal haze over tho glory of the eannas and dahlias.
Set like jewels in the verdure of the lawns wore masses of bedded phlox in a myriad of colours, and nearer the course proper the bold orango and red of tho tall-growing dahlias made a background for masses of many-hued flowers. Bordering the stand the wellkept beds produced a striking contrast with the rich gold of marigolds, the blended crimsons and pinks of begonias, and the graceful bushes of fuchsias in full bloom. Awapuni courso has always been famed for the beauty of its gardens and perhaps in their symphony ot autumn tints they are seen at their best.
