Dancing Season Opens at Tokomaru

The dancing season opened at Tokomaru on Tuesday night, April 12, when a “Joy Night” was held under the auspices of the Tokomaru Tennis Club. The popularity of the dance was evidenced by flic number of cars outside the hall, visitors being . present from Palmerston North, Foxton, Shannon, Levin and Linton.

All credit is duo to t-lio ladies committee for tho work carried out, and also to the male members of the working party. Many patrons expressed appreciation of the decorations, the stage being exceptionally well done in rainbow hues. A very dainty supper was served by the ladies. As the dance was a great social and financial success and a good sum will be available for the Tennis Club funds, the promoters should feel well rewarded for their efforts. The ladies of the committee were Airs A. Todd, who wore navy satin beauto and chcnilo velvet bridge coat in shades of black and green; Airs C. Osman, sunrise pink georgette and bridge coat to tone; Airs A. Cron, black floral georgette and floral bridge coat; Aliss J, Stokes and "Aliss D. Webb (the secretaries), the former in whito taffeta and lace, and the latter wearing a simple frock of white satin with short black velvet coat.

Perhaps the most interesting items of the night’s entertainment were the two tap dances executed in a very clever manner by Aliss G. Alacnaughton of Palmerston North. Extras were played during the supper hour by Aliss Joan Brec.
