£95,000 Refused For Famous Picture
SIR THOMAS LAWRENCE’S “RED BOY’ r (British Official Wireless.) Received Tuesday, 9.50 p.m. RUGBY, April .19. Art experts from Europe and America were present at Lambton Castle, Durham, when many world famous work.s of art from the collection of Lord Durham were auctioned to-day. Sir Thomas Lawrence’s portrait, the “Red Boy,” was withdrawn at £95,000, the largest bid ever made for a picture in England being refused.
