Sister Bright of the Palmerston North Hospital staff is on annual leave. . Aliss Alarjorie Green, of Arawa, Fcilding, is visiting friends in Wanganui, and is the guest of Airs T. Ellis, Keith Street. Miss Alollie Gibb, Feilding, leaves tomorrow to spend her annual vacation with relatives at Otorolianga and Rotorua. During Alarch, 25 babies were born at the Palmerston North Alatornity Home. At others attending at the antenatal clinic numbered 49. Airs. .T. Nantes, who is now residing in Auckland, spoilt the week-end -in Palmerston North and loft for Napier yesterday for a short visit. The Palmerston North Hospital Board yesterday unanimously resolved to place on record appreciation of the work being performed by Sister Griffin, Matron of the Old People’s Home. Aliss Ivy Wallace, of Ruahino street,Palmerston North, has received notification that she was successful in gaining second prize of £25, in a trade competition conducted in Nottingham, England.

Aliss Joan Hare, 8.A.. of Speers Point, near Newcastle, is the first woman minister in New South Wales. She attended the -..Congregational Conference in Sydney last year, and was welcomed by the president, who expressed a hopo that other women would follow in her footsteps.

A very enjoyable leap year danco in aid of tho free ambulance service was held in tho Orange hall on Thursday night. The ladies’ committee worked very hard to ensure'tho function beiug a success, and it was. The music was supplied by an orchestra and the dances were both old and now. An extra was played by Aliss Parker, and Airs. Crossley made an efficient M.C, A euchre tournament for non-dancers was a feature. of tho evening, which was thoroughly enjoyed by those who took part. It i 3 hoped to hold another dance at an early date.
