From Our Own Correspuiiueiir. The annual meeting of the Apiti Returned Soldiers’ Association was held in the Oddfellows Hall on Monday evening, Mr. A, E, I’rujcan presiding over an attendance) of some forty members. Correspondence was read from headquarters, Wellington, congratulating the local association on its increase in membership this year. The secretary then read the report and balance sheet, which showed that tho year had been a successful one in every way, there being a balance of £SO 10s lOd, of which £2l ,10s lOd was earmarked for relief of eases of distress. Following their adoption, the president addressed the meeting, stressing the importance of retaining membership, anu also the desirability of having new members on the executive so that more returned men would realise the importance of the work of the association.

The meeting next proceeded to tho election of officers, which resulted as under: Patron, General R. Young; president, Mr. A. E. Prujean; vicepresident, Mr R. Chcync; secretarytreasurer, W. A. Churchill; Committee, A., London (Kimbolton- Valley Road), E. Dcrolcs, J. Watt (Rangiwahia), W. McKenzie Jnr., W. Osborne, M. Williamson (Apiti); lion, auditor, Mr. W. Hogan; Trustees, Messrs. W. 11. Watson and W. A. Churchill. Messrs. J. Curreen and J. MeMurtrie were elected new members.

With regard to the Anzac Day bervicc, detailed arrangements w'ere left in the hands of the committee, and it was decided that the collection taken up at the service should be divided equally between tho Jubilee Institute for the Blind and the Apiti R.H.A. Relief Fund. Mr. C. Stanley was appointed officer in charge of the parade, which will fall in sharp at 1.30 p.rn., returned men to wear medals and poppies., The date of the Anual Reunion was fixed, for Friday the 20th May, the usual charge of 5/- lo be made. Hearty votes of thanks.were passed to Messrs R, Cbeyno for representing the association at the Dominion Conference, to the secretary, to Mr. W. McKenzie Jnr. for his work in auditing the association J s books and to the retiring members of tho committee. This year tho association has purchased 250 poppies from tho Christchurch Association, and it is hoped that these will all be sold, a*s the proceeds will be held to assist any eases of distress that may arise.
