Feilding Schools

LYTTON ST. MEETING. Mr. J. Penney presided over the annual meeting of householders of the Lytton St. School at Feilding last evening when the following annual report was read: Commencing the year with a credit balance of £23 1.4 s sd, the year ended with a credit of £ls !)s sd. No subsidies were available during the year from I lie Wanganui Education Board but a special grant of £25, and a donation of £-10 from the Parents’ Association enabled the committee to concrete the area at tho back of the school as well as the play-shed and the cyclo sheds. This has been a vast improvement to the grounds as during tho winter this area was always in a very wet condition. Advantage had been taken of No. 5 Unemployment Scheme to have the grounds kept in order, one man being employed for that work. Following 011 tho Department’s decision that school committees siiould be responsible for the upkeep of dental clinics a charge of 1/- was made to pupils treated at the clinic. On behalf of the committee the chairman wished to record appreciation of the excellent work done by Mr W. (J. Wilson (headmaster) since his appointment to the school and also of the work done by tho very efficient school staff. Thanks were ‘also duo to Mr. X. C. Harding, lion, auditor, and to the Parents’ Association for their keen interest in raising funds for school improvements . In conclusion Mr. Penney desired to thank members ol' tho committee for their wholehearted work in the interests of the school and especially would he thank Mr. Tf'K. Hay for the very efficient manner in which lie had carried out the secretarial and other work. Tho nominations for the commit teh did not. exceed the number required and the following were accordingly elected: Mesdames P. Pearson and M, Green and Messrs AY. G. Short, J. Penney, N. C. Harding, J. S. Tingey, L. D. Miller, J. B. Stewart and H. Parsonage.

MANCHESTER ST. SCHOOL. At the anual meeting of householders of the Manchester St. School, Mr G. J. Fitzpatrick, chairman, stated that tho committee had no annual report to present beyond its balance sheet. During the year the committee had noc been called upon to do anything very much outside its normal operations.

The nominations for the committee were announced as follows: Mesdames G. J. Fitzpatrick and S. McDowa'.l, and Messrs J. Campbell, P. B. Desmond, S. McDouall, T. S. Goldsmith, E. Hashing and G. J. Fitzpatrick. The number nominated was one short of the total required and tho Wanganui Education Board will bo asked to fill tho vacancy. The committee will recommend that Mr T. K. Hay be elected to the position.
