Dannevirke High School Old Pipils’ Association
ANNUAL GARDEN PARTY AND REUNION. From Our Own Correspondent, The perfect weather which prevailed on the occasion o ftho Dannovirko High School Old Pupils’ Association garden party and reunion was appreciated by all present. Held in tho High School grounds, which were in perfect condition, the gardens looking their best, it was patronised by a largo attendance. Owing to the absence of his Worship the Mayor (Mr. M. D. Smith) who was unable to attend, tlic opening ceremony was efficiently performed by Mr. K. J. McDonald, president of the Old Pupils' Association, who also presents «o scholarships. Very keen interest i\as shown in tho various competitions. Large quantities of sweets, flowers, cakes, etc., were disposed of by the stall attendants, who were kept busy in response to tho numerous demands mado upon them. Tue afternoon tea was most refreshing, made still more delightful by the accompaniment ot tue orchestra, composed of old pupils, under tho leadership of Miss L. Lawson. Tho drill display was a credit to both pupils and instructors. Tho Allowing are the results of tho comptitions:—Golf champion: Miss S. Mcxted; chain-stepping: Mr. L. Vigors; croquet: Mrs. Cross. Tho raffles resulted: —Bridge box: Miss L. Craven; seed cake: Mrs. Marriott; dinner basket: Miss Marney; load fire wood: Mr. Quigley; luncheon set: Mr. Williams; box sweets: Miss Rcndle; ham: Miss Bingham; flour and tea: Mrs. Carlson; bag of sugar: Miss L. Lawson. Weight-guessing: Mr. D. Grant 1, Mrs. F. MaeCormick and Mr. R. Stewart, equal, 2.
