Plane Drops 1000 Feet
HAMILTON AND OOUPLAND SLIGHTLY INJURED.

Flight-Licut. Hamilton and Flying Officer Coupland, who are flying from England to Darwin and back, left 'for Athens after arriving 15 hours late. Their machine dropped like a stone for 1000 feet after passing Genoa. The contents of the plane were hurled against the ceiling, stunning the pilot, Hamilton, and cutting the heads of both. Hamilton recovered, climbed, and swerved to avoid a snowclad hilltop. The aviators landed in a deserted emergency Hying field at Crosseto, where they spent the night.
Fliers Overdue in Reaching’ Athens Received Sunday, 8.30 p.m. ATHENS, Feb. 20. There is anxiety here at the fact that the fliers are overdue.
