Uncle Dan Says Farewell
To tho Editor. Sir, —Through tho medium of your valuablo paper would you give me the opportunity to express a farewell message to the children and my friends and supporters in “radio land.” As all listeners know, I tendered my resignation to tho Manawatu Radio Club, 2ZF f , as “Undo Dan,” and in my letter I requested tho committee to allow me to say “good-bye” to tho children over the air. This request was definitely refused for some reason best known to the committee themselves. Now I have been approached by so many listeners for explanations that I feel it my duty to pen this short let-toT to say that I know of no reason why my request should not havo been allowed. When I rang tho president on tho elephone regarding this request, tho only explanation I received from him was that if I wero to go up before the microphone and announce that I had resigned it would draw too much publicity to the fact. Well, Mr. Editor and listeners, I can give you no further explanation than that. So I will leavo it to listeners to put their own construction on the committee's action. In conclusion, I desire to thank all those business people who contributed to my appeals for the children; also the parents who allowed their children to come along and assist, tho teachers who helped so well, and last but not least tho children themselves, whoso work right through my term of office as "uncle” was really excellent. In appreciation I wish you ali cheerio and good-bye.—l am, etc., UNCLE DAN. Palmerston North, Feb. 18.
