Portray took the lead and was closely followed by Kozan, with the favourite a couple of lengths back. Chief Clerk still held command at tho distance, but Zeebrugge and Alpinist came through fast on the outside and a fine finish saw Zeebrugge prevail. Actaeon and The Sun were first away, followed by Spear Lad and Arrow' Lad. Arrow Lad forged to the front, at tho five furlongs and at the half mile was two lengths ahead of Actaeon and Spearful. Spear Lad, Spearful and Shrewd closed as they turned into tho straight, but at the distance Arrow Lad was full of running and went on to win by a length from Spcarful. Shrewd was fourth. Ellis, ho caino through strongly in the straight to clinch matters with a fine burst. Arajean, which looked dangerous, could not stand tho pace and finished third.
